Complete Trust in God

Do not look forward to the trials and crosses of this life with dread

And fear.  Rather, look to them with confidence that, as they arise,

God, to Whom you belong, will deliver you from them.

He has guided and guarded you thus far in life.  Do you but hold

Fast to His dear Hand and He will lead you safely through all trials.

Whenever you cannot stand, He will carry you lovingly in His arms.

Do not look forward to what may happen tomorrow.  The same Eternal

Father Who cares for you today will take good care of you tomorrow and Every day of your life.
Either He will shield you from suffering or He

Will give you the unfailing strength to bear it.

Be at peace then and put aside all useless thoughts, all vain dreads and all

Anxious imaginations.

                                                         St. Francis De Sales

How difficult it is for us to have complete trust in God!  In our  humanity, we put trust in spouses, boyfriends, children, parents, sisters, brothers, friends, coworkers, priests, doctors, and countless others. Then, when we feel they have been unfaithful to us in one way or another, even when we betray ourselves, we feel hurt, abandoned, angry, anxious, guilty – the list goes on.

There is only one worthy of our complete trust, and that is God.  At times, it seems that He is the last one we turn to, when He should be at the top of our list.  Even the apostles in Matthew 8:23-27, were indignant when Jesus slept while they fought the violent storm.  “Lord save us, we are perishing!” Where are you God when we are struggling in our lives, in our relationships – the times we feel so alone?  Then, He says to us, “ Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?”

There are moments when it appears to us as though God is absent while we are facing difficult times.  That is so untrue.  God IS there in the boat with us.  He may be silent while we are facing the turmoil, but that is the time when we are to grow in faith, love, and hope.  God never leaves us.  God never abandons us.  God is never unfaithful to us.  He loves us beyond anything we can imagine.

Then He got up, rebuked the winds, and the sea, and there was a

Great calm.  The men were amazed and said, “What kind of a

Man is this,  Whom even the winds and the sea obey?”

Whatever trial may be occurring in your life t this moment, place your complete trust in God – He is there with you.
