The Twenty-Third Psalm
|
 |
| Lord, give me Your peace… |
|
|
Lord, you are my Good Shepherd All that I have is Yours All that I need is You. As I lay down tonight I am mindful of Your tender presence leading me to fresh green pastures May the restful waters of Your love Renew my spirit And I sleep contended in Your Presence Guide my thoughts and dreams With the light of Your truth. And if I should become afraid Give me the assurance of Your love And the comfort of Your strength
Soothe the anxieties in my heart With the refreshing oil of Your Spirit Releasing in me the promise of Your joy. Lord, I believe that You are faithful in Your love for me, Day and night I am covered by Your mercy. May I dwell in the peace of Your heart, Resting in the safety of Your presence Now and always, forever and ever.

Dear Lord Jesus,
It is time for me to come to bed and to try to go to sleep. When I come to sleep, I know that I am coming to You, who are the peace and rest of my heart. O Lord, I thank you for this day and for everyone I met this day or talked to on the phone. (Think of the people you were able to bless today.)
Forgive me Merciful Lord, anything that I did today that was sinful or selfish. O Lord, I live in the radiance of your mercy and I will not fuss over my sins; I want to be sorry for my sins, but in the joy of your love and mercy.
O Lord, as I go to rest, I beg of you to bless all my brothers and sisters in the whole world: esp. (name the people dearest to you.) Bless all of my family and all the people I know and love.
O Lord, I make the sign of the cross now, and as I do, I want you to know how much I love you and how much I wish to love everyone else, too , more every day. Take care of the world, Lord, and as I rest in your loving arms, please bless all those who do not know you. Let you Divine peace come to all the world and give rest to those who have no rest; peace to those who have no peace, and give us the beautiful gift of mercy, not only today, but for all of our lives.
Good night, beloved Jesus and Mary and Joseph. Good night all you angels as you keep me through the night; Good night and thank you for every grace of this day. Keep us in the shadow of your wings.
Amen

Evening Peace Prayer
R. Lord, give me Your peace. May my prayer be like incense in your presence, my uplifted hands like the evening sacrifice. (R) (PS. 141:2)
The day is yours, and yours also the night; you established the sun and moon. (R) (PS. 74:16)
Even the darkness is not dark to You, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to you. (R) (PS 139:12)
I look up at Your heavens, shaped by Your fingers, at the moon and the stars You set firm. (R) (PS. 8:3)
Lord, You Yourself are my lamp, my God lights up my darkness. (R) (PS. 18:28)
When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. (R) (PS. 63:6)
In peace I lie down and at once fall asleep, for it is You and none other, Lord, who make me rest secure. (R) (PS. 4:8)

Jesus, my Good Shepherd, open my heart tonight to the sound of your voice calling my name. Seek for me in the lost places of sin, follow me to the hidden places of shame, and carry me safely to the healing pastures of your love. Give me your peace in my anxious thoughts, your tenderness in my wounded heart, and your comfort in my weary soul. Grant me the grace to receive these gifts of your presence and greet me with your love in the morning. In your Holy Name, I pray. Amen
