Opening Prayer:
O Lord, our God, eternal Father, Creator of heaven and earth, to you the Almighty and Ever Living God, we give glory and honor and praise through Jesus Christ your Son. He emptied Himself. He took the form of a slave and became one of us. He felt our weaknesses with us so that we would have no fear when approaching His throne room of grace and mercy. In perfect love and obedience, He fulfilled Your will and humbly accepted His death on a cross so that we might be set free from our sins and receive new life in Him. For this, you raised Him on high and gave Him the name above all names so that every knee should bend and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Help us now to journey with Jesus to Calvary so that we may welcome our suffering Lord into our hearts. Conform us into the pattern of His death so that we might come to know Him in the power of His resurrection. Grant us the grace to endure the sorrows of the cross with Christ because of the joy which lies ahead.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
